Good afternoon and Happy November.
We have been very busy around Big
Woods these past two weeks. On October 24th and 25th I
attended Family Missions Company’s Proclaim conference. It was a wonderful two-day
conference on Catholic Missions. We heard several talks on our baptism into
Christ’s universal mission, self-mortification, and the power of poverty and
mercy.
Now that Proclaim is over and
wrapped up all of us “Intakers” are getting very excited for Mexico! We are
leaving THIS Thursday evening after dinner. I am eagerly looking forward to
learning what our schedules will be and hopefully picking up a little bit of
Spanish! Keep all of us headed down to Mexico in your prayers. We will be
driving and with the amount of people we have can take anywhere from 14-24
hours. Eek! Please let me know your prayer intentions so that I can keep you
and your family in my prayers for this 3-week trip. I am looking forward to
this amazing opportunity to serve the poor and proclaim the gospel.
I really encourage you all to dive
into scripture this week. One of the many wonderful things about God is that he
is speaking to us today in his living word. As Christians we are called to read
the word of God daily. I am the first to admit that prior to coming to Big
Woods I was not often one open my bible each day, but I can truly say I have
seen the fruits abundantly in my life since I have begun doing so. And it’s
okay if you don’t know what to do. Try starting with the Gospels; open it up
and try reading a chapter or less; really pay attention to what you are reading
and see what jumps out to you. Then seen how you think God is trying to speak
to you today.
Thank you all for taking the time
to read and keep up to date with what is happening in my busy life. God bless
and have a wonderful week!
